Recycling Ghost Nets

Posted by chris on January 9, 2018

Ghost nets are an unpleasant reality in the Mediterranean. Divers often come across nets left behind by fishermen that degrade and blot our depths in various ways.
I was always annoyed until I decided to take action.
Nowadays in my excursions when I spot a ghost net, and if I'm able to, I dedicate some time picking it up.
When on land, I separate the different materials.
The plastic parts are sent to the recycling bins, while lead is re-purposed in a new usable form for our dives.
